Mercator has recently appointed Duncan Alexander as Vice President Sales & Market Development at Mercator. Scottish born Duncan has over 18 years experience in the aviation sector business, including previous projects here in Dubai.

Based at the Dubai Headquarters, Duncan has the responsibility for leading sales and product development for one the key divisions of the successful Emirates Group.

Prior to his arrival in Dubai, Duncan was formally running his own marketing services company, Encomium, based in the UK. He has worked in senior management positions at Official Airline Guides (OAG), SITA and Galileo, and has also worked as an aviation consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Logica.

As Vice President Sales & Market Development at Mercator, Duncan will develop new sales strategies as well as oversee the functional operations of the sales office and the ongoing structuring and management of the sales team. His key duties will include identifying opportunities in new markets as well as ensuring optimum client service. He will, ultimately, be in-charge of maintaining the continued growth and commercial effectiveness of the Mercator sales division.

Duncan, who reports directly to Patrick Naef, Head of Mercator and Divisional Senior Vice President Emirates Group IT, commented: “This is a unique and incredible opportunity for me personally and for my family, one not to be missed.
